at Mangwon Market, Seoul

Whenever I come to Mangwon Market, I feel so happy — there are so many delicious things to eat at such good prices.
I drop by from time to time, not just to shop, but also for lunch and dessert.
Today I want to share Hunhun Hotteok, which I can honestly recommend, and a café where you can sit down and enjoy the food you bought at the market.
If you visit Korea, I highly recommend trying it.
Location, Hours & Parking
Address:
- Address: B1, 25 Poeun-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul
- Right in front of Mangwon Market Gate 1, next to the public restroom (Stall No. 68)
- About 6–7 minutes on foot from Mangwon Station Exit 2 (Line 6)
- About 8–10 minutes on foot from Mapo-gu Office Station Exit 5
- It’s underground, so the entrance is easy to miss — look for the yellow balloons!
- (There’s a small standing / quick-eat space inside)
Hours:
- Tue–Sun: 11:00–20:30
- Closed every Monday Hours can change for holidays, so check Instagram @hoonhoon_hotteok before you visit.
Parking:
- Mangwon 1 Public Parking Lot (3–5 min walk)
- Mangwon 2 Public Parking Lot (about 5 min walk)
Exterior
While walking around Mangwon Market, you’ll see a big sign that just says “Cafe.”
Head down the street opposite the parking lot, and you’ll spot a balloon sign with “Hunhun Hotteok” written on it — and a smiling hotteok press wearing a beret.
It’s on the B1 floor of the Bethel Church building.
The listed hours are 11:00–20:30,
but days off can change from month to month.
I’d recommend checking their Instagram before you go.
It would be a shame to come just for Hunhun Hotteok and find it closed.
Interior & Atmosphere
As you go down the stairs, you can see Hunhun Hotteok’s TV appearances.
They’ve been on KBS Saengsaeng Information and SBS Live Today.
So it’s already a well-known spot.
It’s popular with international visitors too —
it feels like a must-stop when you’re in Mangwon-dong.
Please note that you can’t bring outside food or drinks into Hunhun Hotteok.Inside, a cute Hunhun Hotteok character in LED lights greets you.

I went a little early, so it wasn’t crowded,
but there’s often a fairly long line.
There’s no seating — it’s a standing-only space.
Even on a hot day, they were making hotteok so carefully and with so much care. It was impressive.
It’s good in summer too,
but Hunhun Hotteok tastes even better in winter.
Hotteok is a winter food, after all.
There’s a separate cash box.
Have your cash ready, tell the owner which hotteok you’d like, put the money in yourself, and take your change.
Things to Note
Notes When Eating
The hotteok is very hot.
To keep the honey filling from burning your tongue or mouth, take a small first bite and blow on it before you eat.
Do not eat this if you have a nut allergy.
(It contains nuts and cinnamon.)
Hunhun Hotteok Menu
The corn honey hotteok (original) is 1,500 won.
Cheesening, injeolmi, Oreo, and seed are 2,000 won each.
The honey hotteok served with ice cream comes in two flavors: injeolmi and Oreo. That’s 4,000 won.
If you want to see how they look, check the photos above before you order.
The most popular ones are the original corn honey hotteok and Cheesening.
I’ve also tried the injeolmi —
if you like a nutty, toasty flavor, you’ll probably love it.
Canned drinks are 1,500 won.
Just grab the one you want and pay for it together.
Americano, iced tea, yuzu tea, and maesil (plum) tea are 2,000 won.
Smoothies (mango, blueberry, kiwi) are 2,500 won — still a good deal.
What I Ordered
I ordered Cheesening and injeolmi.
I’ve also ordered the corn honey hotteok before.
After frying them carefully in oil, they coat each one with the seasoning you chose.

If you’re eating it right away, they pack it in a cute smiley paper cup so you won’t burn yourself.
The hotteok in the photo is the corn honey hotteok.
If you want to walk around Mangwon Market while you eat, just ask them to pack it like this.
The other hotteok is Cheesening.
Sweet and salty — a perfect combo.
They coat it generously, so there’s no empty spot.
I asked them to pack it to go, since I was going to share it at a café nearby in Mangwon.
They put it in a paper bag.
There’s a spot with tongs and scissors so you can cut it first, then pack it again.
Just be careful not to let the honey drip.
How to Eat Comfortably (Mangwon Café)
Right next door is Café M at Mangwon Market.
It’s a café where you can bring in food you bought at the market.
Just don’t bring in drinks.
Since it’s a café, you need to order a drink here.
One drink per person is required — please follow this.
ou can eat your food here, but you can’t leave leftovers behind.
You’ll need to pack them and take them with you.
If you don’t have a bag, tell the owner — they’ll give you a plastic bag.
The seating is quite spacious and comfortable.
The drink menu is varied — coffee, tea, juice, ade, and even beer.
Just order whatever you like.
I had something sweet, so I ordered an iced Americano.
Hotteok and iced Americano go really well together.
On the left is Cheesening, and on the right is injeolmi honey hotteok.
Personally, I prefer the original corn honey hotteok and the Cheesening.
The injeolmi one, maybe because of the soybean powder, felt more like a meal than a snack.
It’s nutty, but a little pasty for my taste.
Still good, though.
Just pick the one that suits you.

Space
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You eat standing up, and it’s underground, but turnover is fast. Even when the line is long, it moves quickly, so it’s worth waiting.
Eating inside can feel a little cramped, but if you take it to go, that’s not a problem at all.
Hotteok
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s delicious. If you come to Mangwon Market, I really recommend stopping here.
Especially the corn honey hotteok and Cheesening.

A must whenever I visit the market.
And being able to eat all your market food at the Mangwon café next door makes it even better.
