I heard that the Jean Jullien × Doraemon collaboration products, which recently caused a huge stir in Tokyo, were finally available in Korea — so I headed straight over.
It’s being held as a pop-up at the newly opened Another Palm on the B1 floor of Shinsegae Gangnam, the first of its kind in Korea.
I’ve put together an honest review of my store visit and the goods I actually bought.
The pop-up runs until July 30th, so if you’re a fan of French artist Jean Jullien or Doraemon, I highly recommend visiting soon!
Personally, I love Jean Jullien’s illustrations — they’re so catchy and iconic — and Doraemon is just endlessly adorable. So when I heard about this collaboration, my expectations were sky-high!

Introducing the collaborative project 「Doraemon & Jean Jullien ‘STRANGE invention’」, featuring world-renowned French artist Jean Jullien (b. 1983) and Japan’s iconic animation character Doraemon.
This collection, presented for the first time in Korea exclusively at Another Palm, reinterprets the core themes of Doraemon’s universe — invention and imagination — through Jean Jullien’s signature witty and humorous drawings. A long-time admirer of Doraemon, the artist naturally expands the familiar character into his own artistic world, creating a journey that feels both approachable and uniquely imaginative.

Exterior
I visited on the weekend. Since the pop-up had only just started, it didn’t seem very well-known yet — the area in front of the store wasn’t particularly crowded.
However, because Shinsegae Gangnam is directly connected to the Express Bus Terminal, the department store itself was packed with people.
If you head toward Sweet Park on the B1 floor, you’ll easily spot Another Palm with its eye-catching exterior featuring constantly changing LED screens. The store itself was smaller than I expected.
Interior & Atmosphere
The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in was a large blue Doraemon head sculpture. Underneath it stood figures with Jean Jullien’s signature pupil-less expressions, holding various designs of clothing. It was really striking.
After walking around the central table once, I realized the interior was much smaller than expected — it felt cozy, almost like a small corner of a convenience store.
On the central table, the Doraemon & Jean Jullien collaboration goods were neatly displayed. Along the walls, a variety of imported products and art goods were also showcased, so there was plenty to look at.
I also spotted some Yiayia Friends products that I’ve liked for a while, as well as Inimini items I’d previously seen on Instagram.
What stood out the most were the walls completely covered with Jean Jullien’s signature cute Doraemon doodles (until July 30th).
The pink door with Doraemon and Jean Jullien peeking out, along with the cool blue LED lighting, also really elevated the atmosphere of the store.

Message from Jean Jullien
I’ve always loved Doraemon. The idea of an earless, blue cat robot from the future with a pink time travelling door sounded as amazing as it was. I’ve always loved the design of the character and how it summed up everything I loved about Japan and its pop culture: Anchored in everyday life, with an element of surreal redefining the decor and adding quirk to everything.
The simplicity of the line, the originality of the plot and design mixed with the constant cleverness of the millions of ideas for each invention. I’ve also always loved how these characters keep being played with, reinvented, made serious, changed, transformed etc. over time and episodes but no matter what, their essence remained.
When I moved to Tokyo, I was fortunate enough to meet with Fujiko F. Fujio’s daughters who keep his legacy alive and for this legacy to be shared with me generously. I felt I could relate to his work in a myriad of ways, and I was very humbled that their trust was put in me to respectfully play with his creation.
I’ve approached this collaboration in a very simple and, hopefully, earnest way: my drawn avatar meeting Doraemon and his friends and using my brush and ink to come up with new strange inventions. I hope Doraemon’s readers and lovers will welcome my take on this iconic work with pleasure and that my black and white character can befriend this blue cat from the future.

Jean Jullien really seems to have an endless stream of creative ideas!
Among all the drawings I saw this time, this is my absolute favorite.
(I zoomed in and took a close-up photo 😂)
Doesn’t Doraemon’s sulky, angry face look so cute? The way he creates such a strong impression with just a single line and expression — that’s the real power of the artist.
The drawing above looks like an idea sketch before the colors were added.
It seems that the best pieces among these were actually turned into official merchandise. Now, let me show you the goods in detail~

Set of Post-cards
The Doraemon postcard set comes with a total of 8 cards in one set. The price is ₩24,900.
What I especially liked is that the back of each postcard is designed in the shape of Doraemon’s cute mouth.
The size is perfect for writing a short message, and the paper quality is excellent very soft and thick.
Doraemon Mug
I especially liked this piece. Doraemon’s expression is so cute, and they both look really happy together.
At first I thought he was carrying a giant baguette, but when I looked closer, it was actually a baguette-shaped surfboard they were holding together. This kind of witty detail is pure Jean Jullien style!
I wanted to buy the mug the most this time… but when I visited, it hadn’t been stocked yet, so I couldn’t get one 😭

I was impressed by the attention to small details — the illustration on the product tag was exactly the same as the design printed on the back of the clothes.
When I visited, there were three designs available in total: one long-sleeve and two short-sleeve styles.

I especially liked the cat and dog bowl designs.
When you put food in them… it looks like they’re stealing each other’s food, which was hilarious 😂

I bought the file because I’m currently studying Japanese and wanted something to keep the study materials my teacher gave me.
Somehow… since Doraemon is from Japan, I feel like my studies will go better with it? (Self-hypnosis in progress… please let me study well…😂)
When my Japanese reaches an intermediate level, I’ll also post a review of the academy!
Overall, the print quality of the products was really excellent. I think it’s worth noting if you’re considering buying any of them.
Overall Visit & Product Review
Space ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
The space was quite a bit smaller than I expected. When it gets crowded, it feels rather tight, so you end up carefully navigating around people or waiting your turn to look around. Still, it was decorated in a cute and charming way, just like a small convenience store, which suits a pop-up store perfectly. Because the space was small, I was able to finish looking around pretty quickly.
Products ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
The prices felt a little on the expensive side, but the print quality and materials were generally good. They also prepared Korean snacks for foreign tourists and imported products for Korean customers, so the overall selection felt appealing for kidults.
Willingness to Revisit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If another pop-up I like opens here, or whenever I visit Shinsegae Gangnam, I think I’ll stop by again. 100% willingness to return!
