Levee Milk

Paju in Korea

Levee Milk is famous for making kaymak based on fresh milk despite the demanding process, resulting in a soft and rich texture. It has become a much-loved café that many Koreans also seek out.

Location & Hours & Parking

Address

  • 98-10 Darakgogae-gil, Wollong-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do
  • 4-minute walk from Wollong Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line
  • A large café with a spacious outdoor terrace and parking area

Opening Hours

  • Daily 10:00 – 20:00
  • No regular closing days

Parking

  • On-site parking available (large parking lot)
  • Great for a drive course visit

Note on Public Transportation Public transportation is a bit inconvenient!

  • It’s only a 4-minute walk from Wollong Station, so the station itself is close.
  • However, from central Seoul (especially Gangnam, Hongdae, or Euljiro areas), transfers are required and the trip takes quite a long time.
  • If you don’t have a car, renting one through Socar or a similar service would be much more convenient.

As you drive along, a large café appears at the edge of the road that makes you wonder, “Is that the place?”

At first I couldn’t find the entrance and had to go around once, but once you locate the entrance properly, parking spaces are available.

Even though I visited on a weekday, there were quite a few people and seats weren’t immediately available. The turnover is relatively fast, though.

On weekends, more people come for outings, so seats may become available more slowly than on weekdays, and parking can also be a bit more complicated.

Interior & Atmosphere

If waiting is required, you just need to register and wait. You cannot wait inside the café — you have to wait outside. However, the turnover is relatively fast, so they usually seat you quite quickly.

The interior is spacious with high ceilings, so even though there were quite a few people when I visited, it didn’t feel overly crowded.

There were outdoor seats available as well, but because the weather was so hot, no one was sitting outside.

Inside, there’s a courtyard-style terrace in the center where you can see trees, which gave a cool and refreshing feeling.

They also have high chairs available, so it’s good to know if you’re visiting with young children.

As a café that sells various breads along with kaymak (rich cream) and fresh Greek yogurt, the interior is clean and neat. The uniforms and wooden materials blend well together, creating a feeling that they would serve organic, natural, and fresh products.

Café Levee – Drinks & Desserts

Most people seem to visit Levee Milk specifically to try the kaymak.

The signature menu items appear to be the Kaymak Bread Set and the Greek Yogurt Bowl, which are the most popular.

When you order the Kaymak & Bread Set, it is prepared so you can enjoy it with coffee or various other drinks as a side. I haven’t tried the Kaymak Cream Latte yet, but I’m curious about it.

The long-awaited kaymak!

Do you know how kaymak is made? Kaymak is a rich cream made by slowly condensing the fat from milk.

It takes quite a long time, and the higher the fat content of the milk, the richer and more flavorful the kaymak becomes. That’s why they say a complex process is repeated to achieve that taste.

In many places, because of this hassle, they mix milk with heavy cream or use a slightly modified commercial method.

Levee Milk, however, is known for making it based on fresh milk, resulting in a soft and rich texture.

Just from the photos, you can already tell how creamy it must be. It really looked like a cloud.

Simple Menu & Price Guide

  • Greek Yogurt Bowl: 9,300 – 13,000 won
  • Drinking Yogurt: 5,800 – 6,500 won
  • Kaymak (takeout 100g): 14,500 won + cooling pack (2,000 won)

Levee Milk (MD) Products

Levee Milk is also well-known for its yogurt, and they sell different types of granola.

  • Original Granola: 5,500 won
  • Cranberry Granola: 6,000 won
  • Coconut Granola: 6,000 won

They also had MD (merchandise) products available that go well with yogurt:

  • Levee Milk mug: 13,000 won
  • Glass cup: 15,000 won
  • Tumbler: 18,000 won
  • Thermos: 25,000 won

There were also bookmarks and wooden products. The wooden item was a honeycomb-shaped honey spoon that looked like something from Winnie the Pooh, matching the Levee Milk logo. (This is a product that is commonly seen overseas but is still relatively unfamiliar in Korea.)

What I Ordered

The menu I ordered was a mild Americano that pairs well with kaymak, along with the Kaymak Bread Set.

You can choose the type of bread, and when I asked the staff, they recommended the ciabatta as the most popular option. I think it’s best to order according to your own preference.

The ciabatta was soft and fluffy, and the kaymak spread just like incredibly soft butter. The combination with the honey was absolutely delicious.

It wasn’t just like butter — it had a rich milk flavor that was savory and aromatic, and it paired really well with the coffee. Writing this now makes me want to eat it again.

I’ve tried kaymak at a few different places, but Levee Milk’s was especially good. My friend, who was trying kaymak for the first time, said it was so delicious and that she wants to come back again.

Overall Visit & Review

Space ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The space is spacious. Even though it gets quite busy on weekdays, it was nice that there is parking available with no time limit. It’s comfortable and has a good atmosphere, so if you’re near Paju, it’s worth stopping by.

Products ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a café where the kaymak and bread are truly delicious. Kaymak is also available for takeout, so if you really like it, you can pack some to go. If you’re looking for kaymak, I highly recommend trying it here. The yogurt is also famous — I didn’t try it this time, but I’m sure it’s good.

Willingness to Revisit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I crave a dessert that’s not too sweet but rich and savory, along with coffee, I’ll probably come back if I’m near Paju.

Next time I visit, I definitely want to try the Kaymak Latte. I wonder if it feels like the cream of an Einspänner made with kaymak instead? I’m curious!

Levee Milk — highly recommended!
